LAMP: Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP - The Way Forward!

The LAMP stack consists of Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP/Perl/Python. LAMP is rapidly becoming the way to go when wishing to implement a low cost, reliable web server and online database application platform.

To quote Computer Weekly as of 14 March 2006:

Open source software firm Coverity has released comprehensive research results on the state of quality for many of the leading open source software projects.

Coverity's study is claimed to be the first to use source code analysis to establish a baseline metric for software quality based on analyses of more than 17.5 million lines of source code...

...the Lamp stack - Linux, Apache, MySQL and Perl/PHP/Python - showed significantly better software quality above the baseline...

A highly recommended distribution of Linux is Fedora Linux which is completely free. Mon 20 March 2006 marked the release of Fedora Core 5.

Fedora Core 6 is now available from the Fedora Project website. Improvements in the performance of the operating system as well as graphical interface improvements have been introduced. More information can be found in the release notes.
