Stumbled across this worthwhile site within apple.com: Software For Starving Students. The title says it all!
Software For Starving Students provides an easy way to install free, high-quality software titles via a user-friendly interface.
Aimed at students who are typically used to living on a low budget, it includes programs like Firefox and OpenOffice. The idea is to make programs like these more easily accessible to students by offering them all on a CD.
Any promotion of the open source alternatives is in my opinion a worthwhile endeavour so... well done to Apple.
